My Name is Dr. Kirk Tjalas, and I am a “Real Human Being.”

What does that mean?

 If you’ve ever seen the movie “Pinocchio,” you know it is about the story of Jappeto, the puppet maker who makes a male puppet called “Pinocchio.” Pinocchio wants to be a “real Boy” and finds himself in many misadventures of mischief and trouble…

For many years, I did not like who I was; I tried pleasing people at the cost of my happiness.  At one point, I weighed 400 pounds; I was depressed, hopeless, and even suicidal. I went to an MD, and he offered me a “gastric bypass.” I had surgery and lost some weight but soon gained much of it back because I did NOT change my behavior or attitude towards food and dealing
with my feelings. I have ADHD, trauma, and many miles on the healthcare train.

I have embraced my “stuff” and realize I have enough and am enough as a human being. This
changes EVERYTHING!

I am an expert at helping them deal with their stuff!
·      Weight loss
·      Mental health
·      Spirituality

I practice functional medicine, the balance of Body, Mind, and spirit together. I firmly believe that everything is unstable when one is unbalanced. This concept of wellness embraces Eastern and Western medicine and everything in between.

Wellness = a series of consistent healthy behaviors that affect how we function

Addiction = a series of consistent unhealthy behaviors that affect how we function hope and fear are the same: the anticipation of what will come.

Hope= excitement
Fear = unknown despair
the difference is in the planning.

Education
I have a Ph.D. in Philosophy and am an ordained minister and pastoral counselor. I have an associate degree in social work, a Master of Science in Nursing, and a post-master certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.  I am also Certified in the Proficiency of disability ratings in the 5 th  and 6 th  Editions of the AMA Guides to Disability through the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. The Power of Nonnegotiable Badassery I am blessed to have a fantastic life partner, April; she makes every part of “me” better by holding me accountable. Together, we embody an eclectic lifestyle that is sometimes chaotic, often sarcastic, and always genuine and Authentic; together, A & K represents Twisted wellness.

 The blending of two humans with lots of stuff who wish to guide you on your journey of better wellness through giving yourself the gift of luxury and helping you become the elite person you
are meant to be.
